Less than a week after the House of Representatives voted to increase the federal minimum wage to $15 an hour, Rep. Rashida Tlaib is proposing $20 instead.
Outspoken Trump critic and member of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s so-called “Squad,” Rep. Rashida Tlaib [D-MI], was in her home congressional district over the weekend and speaking at a “One Fair Wage” event in Detroit to support the Raise the Wage Act that passed the Democrat-controlled House of Representatives last week.
During her speech, Tlaib told the audience that she believes that instead of a $15 minimum wage, they should be fighting for $20.
“Big fights like this one, $15. When we started it, it should have been $15. Now I think it should be $20 … It should be $20 an hour. $18-20 an hour,” Tlaib stated in a video posted by America Rising on Monday.
“Research from the Congressional Budget Office estimates that increasing the federal minimum wage to $15 an hour would wipe out a great number of jobs – up to 3.7 million,” notes the Job Creators Network’s Elaine Parker. “And it would reduce net family income by a staggering $9 billion annually.”
In response to the video of Tlaib surfacing, former Navy Seal and Texas Rep. Dan Crenshaw [R-TX] spoke about her proposal on Fox News.
